Substance use can create a rewarding experience for an individual that can persist despite harmful consequences. Contingency management is an evidence based program that aims to reinforce positive behaviors and support individuals with substance use concerns. This one-hour session will explore the principles and research behind the
approach and demonstrate how it can be used in caring for clients with methamphetamine concerns. The session is open to any practitioner providing care to clients with methamphetamine concerns.
• Learn what contingency management is and the behavioral principles behind it.
• Learn about historical and current research on contingency management for substance use disorders.
• Recognize and address myths and biases around the use of this intervention.
• Learn about how to implement contingency management in a clinical setting.
